The Army Painter Painting Academy is a free tutorial hub on the Army Painter website, and they just added a new video series tied to their Combat Se7ens launch: seven-paint curated scheme boxes with matching step-by-step painting guides. The tutorials walk through each color in the scheme from primer to finish, which makes them unusually beginner-friendly – no guessing which paints to use, no mid-tutorial store runs. The D&D crossover is straightforward: the techniques covered (basecoat, shade, layer, highlight) work on any fantasy mini, not just Warhammer models. No sign-up required. Warhammer Academy — Coming Very Soon (Keep This One Bookmarked)
Games Workshop announced the Warhammer Academy at their Big Summer Preview last month: a free online video hub launching with over 150 structured lessons covering lore, building and painting, and gameplay from the ground up. The painting and building track is the one that matters for D&D painters, and from what GW has shown it looks like the most organized beginner painting resource they’ve ever put together. It hasn’t launched yet, but with the new 40k starter sets hitting shelves July 25, it won’t be far off. Worth knowing it’s coming so you can point newer painters to it the moment it goes live.
